Pompompurin, created by Japanese company Sanrio in 1996, is an endearing beige golden retriever dog character known for his signature brown beret worn atop his head like a hat. As with Keroppi, Pochacco was created during an in-house contest among Sanrio designers to design a new dog character. Born on April 16th (“on a rainy day”), Pompompurin lives in his own basket near the front door of his sister-owner’s house. He has a laid-back personality and is a fan of the phrase “Let’s go out!”, but hates the phrase “Stay”! he has since been named Sanrio’s Most Popular Character three times consecutively from 1997, 2015, and 2016. Additionally he stars in Happiness Land musical as well as numerous television series, movies, and video games.
